The problem with the Hava unit is that it is a difficult setup process and, if you can manage to get it to work, there are a number of frustrating limitations with the system.
Save your time — get a Slingbox.
The Hava support engineers are all based in India and they all read from a script. I think they get paid per minute. You’ll be on the phone with them and explain the situation and then they will insult you by asking you questions for which you already gave them the information. For instance:
You: I have a Hava Platinum — serial number is xxxx – and I can’t get it to work. I am using Microsoft Windows XP. I downloaded and installed the latest player from your website. It’s coming up with a fatal error.
Them: Okay so you have a Hava Platinum?
You: Yes?
Them: And what Operating System are you using?
You: ***GETTING MAD*** Yes, I just told you that.
Them: And you’re using a Hava Platnium? What’s the serial number?
Save your time and go with folks that give world class support like Slingbox.

I have been using two Slingbox Pro equipments to watch my cable on my laptop for couple years. Those are working great except recording option. So, I bought HAVA Titanium HD TV device to record some cable programs and watch remotely. However, there is no regular cable TV connection (coaxial cable)on it. I tried to use my VCR with RGB cable as a converter but no luck. Finally, I returned the item without any chance to compare quality to Slingbox Pro. I’m still wondering why there is coaxial cable connector on wireless HD only but wired HD.

I got this due it’s price point at $114. I returned the product as fast as it came. The unit gets really hot. In the official site it says that the usb port can support hybrid tv tuner but in reality it is not supported. It may be supported in future??? Finally I could not get the thing to stream at all. The software always displayed fatal error on launch from Vista or XP machines and I got the latest software from their website. My experience with this unit has been far from satisfactory. I would get the slingbox solo but am currently happy with Orb.

There is no coaxial connection to this device. That is not what it is for.
I got this so I could have the option of connecting any device I wanted to it. You have component, s-video and regular ole RCA connections.
I use it to connect a cable box to it in a back room. All the equipment is out of sight, the way I like it. I push TV out to my office and sometimes to my laptop which I connect to a large screen projector and a big receiver. This is a fun way to watch movies and sporting events.
I have never tried to connect to it over the internet. I may try some time, but I really don’t see much need for that.

By in far and large, this has to be the best device of it’s kind on the market today. I’ve blown everyone away with by displaying it’s quality of picture display and the ability to play the device through my PDA. Other companies talk about getting those features, but the HAVA has it today and it works exceptionally well. I am well pleased.
